Glow With Mei

Long time no see sweeties!

Ever since BB cushions were invented, I rarely ever use bb creams or liquid foundations, but whenever I do, my go to bb cream is this Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream

Description and claims:
Jelly BB makes moist and bounce jelly skin. Has jelly texture that helps spread evenly and creates fully hydrated and shiny skin. It is also perfect for covering up facial blemishes
Mint water hydrates facial skin,  and marine jelly complex makes soft and bouncy skin.

Volume: 40 ml

Ingredients:
Water, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Sorbitan Isostearate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Codium Tomentosum Extract, Enteromorpha Compressa Extract, Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Gelidium Cartilagineum Extract, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Caviar Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Triethanolamine, Stearic Acid, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Aluminum Hydroxide, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Isohexadecane, Polysorbate 80, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Butylene Glycol, Hydroxyapatite, Agar, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Glycerin, PEG-8, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Atelocollagen, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Propylparaben, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance(Parfum), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Iron Oxides (CI 77499)

How to use:
Take an appropriate amount with spatula and spread it on face evenly. Gently pat with puffs (enclosed inside the box)

Packaging: 8/10

This bb cream comes in a glass jar with a spatula, that may be considered a bit unhygienic since you have to put it back in the jar after using it (and toward the end, I'm pretty sure I'll have to use my fingers to get the remaining products that the spatula won't reach).
It also comes with a makeup sponge that I might use on my nails for a gradient nail art. I prefer using my fingers or a bb cushion puff to blend bb cream instead anyways, so why wasting the sponge? :3

Scent: 9/10
This bb cream has a fresh scent that fades after few minutes.

Shades: 7/10

It comes in two shades: Aqua Beige and Aqua Neutral.
Some beauty bloggers said that it turns into an orange-ish color after a while, so I was afraid it would be true, but fortunately it didn't, I even think that its color (Aqua Beige) is just perfect for me.

Undertone: peachy

SPF: 20 PA++

Coverage: 8/10

No wonder many people love this bb cream. It is light, buildable, non sticky and non greasy. The perfect consistency for summer and all that sweat and sebum secretions... the only thing that doesn't really fit with summer is its low SPF (only SPF20 PA++) But it's not really a problem since I use a sunscreen anyways.

Finish: 9/10

This bb cream has a jelly consistency (I even spent few minutes bouncing it and giggling like a 3 years old kid), and once in contact with the skin (body heat) it becomes watery.
The packaging states that it makes your face shiny but it doesn't. Actually it has a semi-matte finish, that sets beautifully.

Moisture/oil control: 8/10

This bb cream isn't moisturizing, but it isn't drying either
As for oil contril, it has some oil control properties and prevents your face from reflecting your colleagues' faces on it after few hours. Here is the oil test I did, and surprisingly, it didn't product any oil even after 6 hours (I only took images during the first hour... I forgot to do so later so yeah..)
Here is a comparison with some other bb creams.

Lasting power: 9/10

It does last for quite a long time before it starts fading, and when it does, it fades beautifully, without leaving and breaks, streaks or ugly patches

Summary

After all of this awesomeness, I can absolutely say that this bb cream may be considered as my HG summer bb cream. I can't judge how great it would be in winter and fall since my skin becomes super dry, nor in spring since my skin becomes super sensitive. I'll make sure to tell you later.

Pros:
- Affordable price.
- Lovely packaging.
- The color suits my skin tone perfectly.
- Fresh scent.
- Light formula.
- Non sticky.
- Non greasy.
- great oil control.
- Semi matte finish.
- Buildable coverage without looking cakey.

Cons:
- Low SPF
- Will have to use your fingers to get the product out of the jar later.
- Only two shades which would be inconvenient for people with deeper skintones.

Would I repurchase it?
Absolutely! I even regret not buying it earlier...

Hiyaa~~

A while ago, The face shop collaborated with Disney and came up with a lovely collection.

Since there were many other brands that came with so many awesome products, I decided against getting everything, and instead got one item from each collection, and since I love collection bb/cc cushions, I had to pick one of the following cushions:

I didn't really pay attention to their claims since the main reason I purchase bb cushions is to collect cute packagings, so I ended up getting the Mike cushion because I.LO.V.E.H.I.M and I don't really care about the other two.
So read on to find out if I like the product as much as I love the packaging or not.

Description and claims:

Volume: 15g

Ingredients:

water, cyclopentasiloxane, titanium dioxide, triethylhexanoin, piphenylsiloxy phenyl trimethicone, dimethicone,  PEG-10 dimethicone, polymethyl methacrylate, phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid, niacinamide, butylene glycol, tromethamine,  dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, disteardimonium hectorite, 1,2-hexanediol, sodium chloride, sorbitan sequiisostearate, sorbitan sesquioleate, stearic acid, zinc stearate,  aluminum hydroxide,  hyaluronic acid,  tocopheryl acetate, distearyldimonium chloride, triethoxysilylethyl polydimethylsiloxyethylhexyl dimethicone, palmitoyl proline, adenosine,  magnesium palmitoyl glutamate, sodium palmitoyl sarcosinate,  palmitic acid, cholesterol, triethoxycaprylylsilane, biosaccharide gum-1,  prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, calendula officinalis flower oil, borago officinalis seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, rose flower oil, sodium lauroyl lactylate, hydrogenated lecithin, alcohol denat, ceramide NP, ceramide AP, ceramide EOP, phytosphingosine, xanthan gum, ethylhexylglycerin, carbomer, desamido collagen, poly (tripeptide-6), fragrance, mica (CI 77019), iron oxides/yellow (CI 77492), iron oxides/red (CI 77491), iron oxides/black (CI 77499)

Packaging: 10/10

This packaging is just soooo cute. I love how they didn't just print a picture of Mike on top (like Tony Moly's first pikachu edition and A'pieu rilakkuma edition) but instead made a 3D cushion case.
I also love the air puff with Mike's huge eyes all over it *-* So cute.

The box housing this cushion is made out of a recycled material with Mike's picture printed on the front, and some instructions in both English and Korean printed on the back.

Scent: 9/10

It vaguely smells like sunscreen. Nothing overwhelming

Shades: 7/10

This bb cushion comes in only three shades: V103 (13), V201 (21), V203 (23)

Undertone: This cushion has a neutral undertone that runs sliiiiightly on the yellow side. The darkest shade is quite yellow though, so keep this in mind.
SPF: 50 PA+++ which means you might look like a ghost if you took pictures with flash while having this bb cushion on (or any other korean bb cushion for this matter)

Texture: 9/10

The cushion is saturated with product, and the CC cream is so lightweight, spread thinly and adheres well to the skin. It can be kinda sticky and transfers during the first couple of minutes, but once it sets there is no hair sticking to your face, and it doesn't stain my hijab (I hate base makeup that transfers on my hijab and leaves a dirty mess)

Coverage: 5/10

This bb cushion has a light to medium coverage that can be built up. It covered most of my redness, some small blemishes and evened my skin tone. So if you have any major redness or need a lot of coverage, you'll have to apply a concealer as well because this won't help much

Finish: 10/10

This bb cushion has a satin finish (which is a plus for me since I don't like the super dewy kinda look), and doesn't look makeup-y at all. It looks quite natural. It also does a nice job concealing pores (not sure if it would do the same to huge pores)
I have a dehydrated skin so long lasting base makeup tend to dry my skin out even more and cling to my dry patches, so I honestly wasn't expecting much from this cushion, but seems I was oh so wrong. I think it's the first cushion I've ever tried that didn't look patchy on me even after wearing it for more than 8 hours (many other cushions look patchy on me either from the moment I apply it or after a couple of hours). This being said, I exfoliate regularly and I moisturise my skin enough before applying any foundation.

Moisture/oil control: 8/10

I love how this bb cushion is quite moisturising without being super dewy.
As for oil control, it did a decent job but not as much as I thought it would. I have a combination dehydrated skin: Oily and super dehydrated/patchy T-zone (I know it's the worst thing ever), and normal U-zone (check here to understand what I'm talking about). And since it's getting warmer, my skin is back to producing more sebum. After about 6 hours, this cushion started separating around my nose and my T zone became somewhat a little oily, so I think it would take less time to do so for people with extremely oily skin (especially during summer)
Keep in mind that I didn't use a primer or a setting powder with this to test it fully. I also used a sunscreen so it might have affected it since base makeup tend to slip around when applied on top of it. So if you use a good primer and set this with a powder, you might keep your sebum at bay for much longer.

Lasting power: 9/10

This cushion practically lasted all day. I applied it at 7am and it still looked good even after 10hours.
At 7 hours mark, it started separating a little bit around my nose but everything else was still intact. After 10hours, some of the redness around my nose started showing (might as well be because I have flu) but most of it was still covered and the rest of my face still looked quite good.
After 12 hours, it started looking makeup-y, my whole face started looking oily and the sides of my nose started itching which means this became quite drying.
All in all, I think it lasts for quite a long time, considering that I didn't use any primer or setting powder with it.

Do I recommend it?

If you are looking for an everyday cushion, I think it's a really good cushion for every skin type. Just keep in mind that you should moisturize your skin beforehand if you have an extremely dry skin (although it's quite moisturising), and use a primer and set it with a powder if you have an extremely oily skin.
But if you are looking for something with high coverage, then this is absolutely isn't for you.

You can buy it:

The Face Shop CC Long Lasting Cushion - Disney Edition retails for $10.50 and is available in 3 shades at ibuybeauti

Hello lovelies~~

I really love Etude house mono eyeshadows, that's why I've been thinking about trying one of their limited edition eyeshadow palettes for a while, and the ones I've wanted to try the most are:

  • Etude House Play Color Eyes Ice Van
  • Etude House Play Color Eyes Juice Bar
  • Etude House Play Color Eyes So Hot Play
  • Etude House Play Color Eyes in the Cafe
So when I found out that there are only few Ice Van palettes left, I knew I had to get it, especially since it has the most natural colors in the bunch, so it would be great for daily makeup.

Description and claims:

The 10-color eye shadow palette expresses sweet ice cream colors on the eyelids. Great for summer & beach makeup.

Product details:

  • Composed with best colors of 'Look At My Eyes' & 5 new colors
  • Sweet Ice Cream colors that melt into your eye mildly
  • Soft & silky texture with highly pigmented, lasting color
  • Creates versatile makeup look in matte and shimmer finishes

Volume: 1g x 10

Active Ingredients:

I can't seem to find the ingredient list.. sorry.

Packaging:

The shape and concept of this palette is pretty similar to the other 10-color palettes they have. It comes in a mint colored packaging, which I think is really pretty and gives the refreshing vibes of summer.

The eyeshadow pans are separated from the large mirror by a plastic film where they've written the shades' names as well as some cute ice cream drawings.

It also comes with a couple of applicators that look kinda cheap in my opinion and that I would probably never use.

Texture, Performance and Swatches:

Just like the other Etude House eyeshadows, these ones are smooth and easily blendable. The colors are really pretty and pigmented and the color selection is absolutely awesome, there isn't a color that wouldn't be used especially if you were more into natural makeup. The color payoff is pretty decent but I still like to use an eye primer with them.

This palette comes in a mixture of mattes, shimmers and glitters.

- Goddess with an acoustic guitar: A pretty shimmery copper shade. (shimmer)
- Fresh Grapefruit Tea: One of my favorite colors in this palette; A satin peachy orange. (matte)
- Ah! Secret: A dark cool toned brown with tiny teeny barely noticeable shimmers in it. (shimmer)
- Come With an Wind: This one is really glittery (not as much as the heimish one though, review here), Too bad my phone camera couldn't pick it up. (glitter)
- Strawberry Jubilee: Another favorite of mine, and one of the most pigmented shades of the bunch. A really pretty pink with a tad bit of microscopic shimmers in it (shimmer)
- Rose Tea: A cute pale pink. (matte)
- Vanilla Bong Bong: A yellowish base color. (matte)
- Shooting Mint: another glittery shade with a slight minty shade in it. Too bad it's not as pigmented as I would love it to be. (glitter)
- Mom Is an Earthian: The darkest and most pigmented color in the palette. (matt)
- Finish a Marathon: A medium reddish brown shade. (shimmer)

Summary

Pros:

- Cute packaging
- Silky smooth powder, blends out seamlessly
- Fairly pigmented
- Lovely color selection
- Lasts for 6-8 hours without primer, and moooore with a primer.
- Large mirror
- Isn't patchy, and doesn't crease

Cons:

- The mint color isn't as pigmented as I would have loved it to be.
- The applicators that comes with it are pretty much useless

Do I recommend it?
Yes.

Hello lovelies~~

Today, I'm gonna review one of Heimish best selling products: Heimish Dailism Eye Palette in Blissful Plevy, but there are 6 different palettes you can choose from:
- Breeze Beige
- Lovesome Brink
- Brisk Grey
- Balmy Khaki
- Cozy Coral
- Blissful Plevy
- Coralic

Description and claims:

Trendy color daily filtering, Dailism eye palette. The soft and shimmering , the eight universally flattering shades in this palette are all you need to light up eyes for day and night. Includes Sparkle Eye Shadow in Ballet and Opal, Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Petal and matte Eye Shadow in Grey and Blue, plus rich Espresso for lining eyes. The sleek black palette includes a large mirror and Dual Ended Eye Shadow/ Eye Liner Brush for flawless application, anywhere. The silky, powder formula glides on lids and blends easily, so you can layer and build shadows as desired. Densely-pigment shades stay color true and won't crease, flake or fade.

Volume: 7.5g

Active Ingredients:

Talc, Mica, Titaniume dioxide, Boron Nitride, Silica, Magnesium Myristate, Propanediol, Polyisobutene, dimethicone, N-Lauroyl-L-Lysine, Trimethicone, Mineral Oil, yellow iron oxide, ultramarine.

Packaging:

The Heimish Dailism Eye Palette is very similar to the Heimish Dailism Blusher Palette (you can find my full review here). The only difference is the colors: instead of a glossy and shimmery pink plastic palette, this one comes in a black matte one. they are both very simple yet elegant (just like all of Heimish products) with a rose gold heimish in corner... I'm a sucker. (btw, the rose gold foil might start fading after a couple of days, I personally applied a nail polish topcoat to preserve it)

Between the eye shadows pans and the full sized mirror lays a protective plastic film with "No More Normal" written on it, which seems like the brand's motto since it's written on all of their products.

Just like the other heimish palette, the brush that comes with this palette is pretty decent, it picks up a good amount of product and does a good job blending it. Also, the colors come out better using a brush than your fingers.

Texture, Performance and Swatches:

The colors are really pretty and fairly pigmented, and the color can be built up to become (nearly) as vibrant as urban decay's colors. The color coordination is absolutely awesome and sophisticated, are true to what's in the pan and it comes in a mixture of mattes, shimmers and glitters.

Mattes: This palette contains 4 matte eyeshadows that are silky smooth, blend effortlessly and aren't patchy at all
- Acid Washing: it's an off white color that can be either used as a base before layering other shades or to highlight the browbone area.
- Indigo Blue: this color looks more greyish than your average indigo blue, you can use it as a transition color for your smokey eyes.
- Boy Friend: A soft grey-beige that works amazingly as a base, and I think it would work awesomely with everyday makeup. it is the least pigmented out of the bunch in my opinion.
- Destroyed: a matte brownish color that can be used in many makeup looks.

Shimmers: the two shimmery shade in this palette are more pigmented than the matte ones, they glide smoothly on the lid and don't feel gritty at all
- Wearable Color: this is my most favourite shade among the mattes and shimmers (I kinda choose this palette because of this color)
- Selvage: the most pigmented color out of all of these shades. it looks like a black eyeshadow but you can still notice a bluish hue to it that makes it perfect to go with the other shades in this palette.

Glitters: I'm not really into glitters but these made me change my mind. They are amazing, they aren't chunky at all (except for the first use) blend seamlessly and are nothing short than awesome (imo)
- Vintage: this one is pure glitter.  I love it. it can be blended out to get a foily color (if it does make sense)
- Ultra Stretch: this one has a mixture of pink and purple silvery glitters (if it makes sense), and it's reaaally pretty.

First row: (I used my finger to swatch them, one swipe only. the color comes out better using a brush)

Second row: (I used my finger to swatch them, one swipe only. the color comes out better using a brush)

Summary

Pros:

- Gorgeous  sturdy packaging
- Silky smooth powder, blends out seamlessly
- Fairly pigmented compared to other Korean eyeshadows
- The glittery shades are pure glitters and are so beautiful, and aren't gritty at all
- Sophisticated color coordination
- Doesn't look patchy on the lid
- Lasts for 6-8 hours without primer, and moooore with a primer
- Large mirror
- Decent brush

Cons:

- The matte packaging can look dirty since it picks up dust etc easily, and it can look scratched up.
- The foil of the logo fades easily (hence why I always apply a topcoat on top of it)
- Some shades aren't really pigmented which can be a con to many of you

You can buy it:

The Heimish Dailism Eye Palette retails for $26.91 and is available in six color options at Stylekorean.com.

Do I recommend it?
Absolutely ♥

4.5/5
