The Face Shop CC Long Lasting Cushion - Disney Edition - Mike Cushion: Review

by - May 10, 2019

Hiyaa~~

A while ago, The face shop collaborated with Disney and came up with a lovely collection.

Since there were many other brands that came with so many awesome products, I decided against getting everything, and instead got one item from each collection, and since I love collection bb/cc cushions, I had to pick one of the following cushions:

I didn't really pay attention to their claims since the main reason I purchase bb cushions is to collect cute packagings, so I ended up getting the Mike cushion because I.LO.V.E.H.I.M and I don't really care about the other two.
So read on to find out if I like the product as much as I love the packaging or not.

Description and claims:

Packaging: 10/10

This packaging is just soooo cute. I love how they didn't just print a picture of Mike on top (like Tony Moly's first pikachu edition and A'pieu rilakkuma edition) but instead made a 3D cushion case.
I also love the air puff with Mike's huge eyes all over it *-* So cute.

The box housing this cushion is made out of a recycled material with Mike's picture printed on the front, and some instructions in both English and Korean printed on the back.

Scent: 9/10

It vaguely smells like sunscreen. Nothing overwhelming

Shades: 7/10

This bb cushion comes in only three shades: V103 (13), V201 (21), V203 (23)

Undertone: This cushion has a neutral undertone that runs sliiiiightly on the yellow side. The darkest shade is quite yellow though, so keep this in mind.
SPF: 50 PA+++ which means you might look like a ghost if you took pictures with flash while having this bb cushion on (or any other korean bb cushion for this matter)

Texture: 9/10

The cushion is saturated with product, and the CC cream is so lightweight, spread thinly and adheres well to the skin. It can be kinda sticky and transfers during the first couple of minutes, but once it sets there is no hair sticking to your face, and it doesn't stain my hijab (I hate base makeup that transfers on my hijab and leaves a dirty mess)

Coverage: 5/10

This bb cushion has a light to medium coverage that can be built up. It covered most of my redness, some small blemishes and evened my skin tone. So if you have any major redness or need a lot of coverage, you'll have to apply a concealer as well because this won't help much

Finish: 10/10

This bb cushion has a satin finish (which is a plus for me since I don't like the super dewy kinda look), and doesn't look makeup-y at all. It looks quite natural. It also does a nice job concealing pores (not sure if it would do the same to huge pores)
I have a dehydrated skin so long lasting base makeup tend to dry my skin out even more and cling to my dry patches, so I honestly wasn't expecting much from this cushion, but seems I was oh so wrong. I think it's the first cushion I've ever tried that didn't look patchy on me even after wearing it for more than 8 hours (many other cushions look patchy on me either from the moment I apply it or after a couple of hours). This being said, I exfoliate regularly and I moisturise my skin enough before applying any foundation.

Moisture/oil control: 8/10

I love how this bb cushion is quite moisturising without being super dewy.
As for oil control, it did a decent job but not as much as I thought it would. I have a combination dehydrated skin: Oily and super dehydrated/patchy T-zone (I know it's the worst thing ever), and normal U-zone (check here to understand what I'm talking about). And since it's getting warmer, my skin is back to producing more sebum. After about 6 hours, this cushion started separating around my nose and my T zone became somewhat a little oily, so I think it would take less time to do so for people with extremely oily skin (especially during summer)
Keep in mind that I didn't use a primer or a setting powder with this to test it fully. I also used a sunscreen so it might have affected it since base makeup tend to slip around when applied on top of it. So if you use a good primer and set this with a powder, you might keep your sebum at bay for much longer.

Lasting power: 9/10

This cushion practically lasted all day. I applied it at 7am and it still looked good even after 10hours.
At 7 hours mark, it started separating a little bit around my nose but everything else was still intact. After 10hours, some of the redness around my nose started showing (might as well be because I have flu) but most of it was still covered and the rest of my face still looked quite good.
After 12 hours, it started looking makeup-y, my whole face started looking oily and the sides of my nose started itching which means this became quite drying.
All in all, I think it lasts for quite a long time, considering that I didn't use any primer or setting powder with it.

Do I recommend it?

If you are looking for an everyday cushion, I think it's a really good cushion for every skin type. Just keep in mind that you should moisturize your skin beforehand if you have an extremely dry skin (although it's quite moisturising), and use a primer and set it with a powder if you have an extremely oily skin.
But if you are looking for something with high coverage, then this is absolutely isn't for you.
