To be honest, I have never been fond of oil cleansers, and the scent of Banila Co's balm cleansers put me off, which is why I skipped the first cleansing step most of the time since I don't really wear makeup that often, and when I do I use a cotton pad soaked in a toner/essence to take off anything that was left after my foam cleanser. 

But when I heard people raving last year about the new cleansing balm from Heimish - the new indie brand that made it to everyone and their mother's favs - I decided to give it a try, especially that I was already in love with their products (mainly because of the brand's design) way before even trying any of them.

Packaging:

Just like what I said earlier, I'm a goner when it comes to Heimish packagings. I mean, isn't this packaging just gorgeous? I love how they made a sturdy white plastic jar look simple yet elegant by adding the tropical leafs print and the rose gold accent, it's just so pleasant to look at.

I also love how underneath the twist-off cap, there is a separate sturdy white lid for the spatula, which is... another plus for me.

Smell, Texture, Performance and Swatches:
The first thing that I noticed about this balm after taking of the protective lid was the scent, it's a really pleasant delicious scent that is a mixture of citrus and a little bit of lavender and some other herbal flavors, but mainly citrus. It immediately gave me the urge to go buy myself a lemon ice cream.

For those of you who don't know what a cleansing balm is, it's kinda like a solid version of a cleansing oil that melts down once it touches your skin. The banila co cleansing balm's texture was a little bit fluffy and easier to scoop out, while this one is a little harder but melts effortlessly into a smooth and silky oil when you massage it into your face and start breaking off your makeup efficiently, sparing you the mess you end up with when using cleansing oils, since there is absolutely no drippy colorful oil running down your arms and face and dirtying the sink and the floor in the process.

As you can see in the pictures above, I used my most long lasting makeup products: a couple of lip tints a black eyeliner, waterproof colored eyeliner and a waterproof mascara and some BB cream. Most of the products were removed almost immediately but I had to massage for longer time (less than a minute) to remove the colored eyeliner and one of the lip tints completely. Unlike cream and water makeup removers that leave my skin dry and irritated, after rinsing this balm cleanser out with lukewarm water, my skin was clean (no traces left) but super soft and moisturized, which is the main reason I prefer now balm cleansers over the other kinds of makeup removers.
And if you ask me which one do I prefer out of Banila Co and Heimish balm cleansers, I would immediately pic heimish since (other than the gorgeous packaging and the nice scent) the ingredients are much better in my opinion, is more moisturizing and does a slightly better job at removing makeup than Banila co. But whichever you end up choosing will be a good choice since they are both really powerful cleansers.

Summary

Pros:
- Gorgeous packaging.
- Nice scent.
- Lots of natural oils and an awesome ingredient list.
- No added fragrance.
- Does a great job removing makeup almost instantly.

Cons:
- I can't think of any to be honest, but some of you might not like the scent.
