Oil Tint for Dry lips: Etude House Dear Darling Oil Tints Review and Swatches

by - November 05, 2017

If you ask me what is my guilty pleasure, my answer would be: Lippies ♥
I've always loved trying new lipsticks/lip tints, but recently, I started going a little overboard and purchasing the whole collection, and one of the latest lippies I got are Etude House Dear Darling Oil Tint.
I have initially got 2 colors, and before even trying them out I found myself purchasing the remaining colors. So here is what I think about them.

Description and Claims:
Glossy Tint that sparkles with elasticity and volume.

Capacity: 4.5g

Packaging: 10/10
It is similar to all the other Etude house lip tints, the only difference is this one comes in an opaque bottle, with a metallic reflective cap.

Colors:

It comes in 8 pretty colors: Some of the look nothing like the official swatches (PK003 for example) and some others are close enough (PK001 and PP501)

Here is how it looks on my hand:

I had a hard time trying to take the colors in a way that they wouldn't look similar to each other (because they aren't similar at all), that's why I decided to swatch them on a white paper as well (I think the colors show better that way) just to give you an idea about how they actually look.

And now, Let's move on to the lip swatches (Keep in mind that my lips aren't that pigmented)

- RD301: It's a brownish red, one of the most opaque colors and one of the prettiest. Great for fall.

- RD302: I was expecting this one to be an orangish red, but turned out to be a pretty real red.

- OR201: It looks a little too red in pics but irl, it's beautiful bright (slightly) reddish orange.

- OR202: It's a pretty tangerine orange. One of my favs.

- PK001: A beautiful coraly pink, ideal for everyday use (it's like an mlbb for me)

- PK002: A bright hot pink, very true to the pic.

- PK003: It looks like a sheer gloss at first, but as time goes by it becomes a bright hot pink (I also noticed that the color differs from one person to another, just like how these green lippies do). I love this color but I was expecting it to be a blueish clear gloss, So I'm a little disappointed tbh. (I will upload a swatch later since my lips are pretty stained so it won't show)

- PP501: Another pretty color (they're all pretty tbh), A purplish pink (that my mom confiscated)

Scent: 10/10
Each color has its own distinct scent, but they do all smell sweet and fruity.

Texture: 9/10
The tint is thick and glides on smoothly, doesn't accentuate your dry patches and makes the lips look super nice. I feel like PK003 is the glossiest out of all of them, but maybe it's just me.
After applying it, it feels a little bit sticky, which is kinda normal when it comes to glossy lippies.
On days I don't feel like having something super glossy on my lips, I apply a translucent powder on top. It makes it look matte without affecting the moisture it provides.

Pigmentation: 8/10
Depending on the shades, some of theme are really pigmented, some others aren't. It also depends on how pigmented your lips are. So if you have really pigmented lips, then you might need to use a base underneath or something.
All of them leave a tint once they are wiped off, and the color of the tint depends on how long they stayed on. If you didn't eat anything and didn't touch your lips for, let's say, 8 hours, they will all leave a pink tint (different shades and hues of pink though), but if you wipe them off after one hour or so, the tint's color will be close to the original color.

I wiped the tints off 2 minutes after applying them and they've already stained my hand.

Hydration/Moisture: 9/10
Since it's an oil tint, it does moisturize the lips a little, but not as much as a lip balm.

Lasting Power: 8/10
It does a decent job lasting throughout the day, but it fades in the center of your lips after a greasy meal, and leaves a tint instead, that lasts for a pretty decent time.

Would I repurchase it?
I love them and I would probably get them again.

Where to buy:

  5. I am also a fan of lippies and I prefer the lasting ones because I don't have to re-apply. Right now I am looking for a pigmented lip tint that last longer. Thankfully you share this one and I will definitely buy so I could try myself.

    1. I'm sure you're gonna like it. Just keep in mind that the tint lasts for do long, but the product itself fades after 4-5 hours or after eating a greasy meal

  6. Thank you for your honest review. It does look like a great lip tint to try. I don't usually wear make up, but if I would this holiday season, I'll pick this Etude House Dear Darling Oil Tint. These would also make great stocking stuffers for my grown up nieces.

  7. It is fascinating how the Korean skin care and make up leans towards lighter colours. They hardly ever produce darker shades. It probably has to do with preferences and standards of beauty of course. Thanks for the review, I'll check these out soon; Etude House has some of my favourite skin care products!

    1. They started producing vampy and deep nude lippes shades lately, but for lip tints, they tend to make bright shades more, maybe because pinkish tints are easier to make? I have no idea tbh
