by - October 27, 2017

When it comes to skincare, COSRX is without doubt my go-to brand. I've probably tried about 80% of their products (and loved most of them if not all) that's why, I decided, throughout the following weeks, to review some of the COSRX products I'm currently using. And today, I'm gonna review one of their last year's best sellers and one of the products that made it to my basic skincare routine since the first day I've tried it: the infamous COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad.

+ Supplies moisture to skin

Price: 17500 KRW

Volume: 70 pads

How to use:
1) After cleansing, gently wipe the face with one pad, avoiding the eye area.
2) When using for specific target areas such as the forehead, nose, or chin, be careful not to irritate other parts and try to lightly wipe at only the oily or troublesome area.
3) After use, make sure the lid is screwed on tightly so the solution doesn’t dry.
4) Do not wash off, and continue with your normal makeup routine ! (Up to 3 times use per day is recommended ; 1-2 times use per day is recommended for dry skin or for teenagers.)

Ingredients:
Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Betaine Salicylate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Arginine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Panthenol, Allantoin, Ethyl Hexanediol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Hyaluronate

What skincare routine step is this?
This can be used multiple ways:
- To remove your heavy makeup before cleansing
- Instead of your toner (which is how I usually use it)
- as a spot treatment/sheet mask by putting it on top of your troubled area and leaving it for about 5 min before taking it off.

What skin type might like this?
All skin types, especially acne prone skin.

Packaging:

The 70 pads come in a large white jar with red accent, and a picture of Mr Rx printed on the twist off lid.

The jar is larger than the pads themselves which makes picking them up easier.

Scent:
The first thing I noticed when I opened the jar is that these pads smell like COSRX Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion which is a nice scent that I can't really recognize but has a hint of citrus and something else to it.

Pads:

The pads have two different sides:
- An embossed side that is supposed to exfoliate the skin, get rid of impurities and regulate sebum production. It's not as rough as I expected it to be, which is better considering this is used everyday and you don't wanna over exfoliate your skin.
- A smooth side that is supposed to hydrate, promote smoother and better skin texture which I'm not really buying since the pad is soaked in the same kinda essence on both sides, and the rougher side is the one supposed to smooth out the skin right?
Anyways, these pads retain a lot of essence in them, enough for your face, neck and hands (I might sound cheap but whenever I'm almost out of it and I'm yet to receive another jar, I cut these pads in half and use them, and even then they still have enough essence for my whole face).

pH level: 4.5

Effectiveness:
Like you might already know, I really love COSRX, but still, I wasn't expecting much from this product since it only contains 1% of BHA only, but after trying it for a while I was surprised how my skin was loving it, my skin texture was improving and my tiny pimples on my forehead were decreasing and my skin looked much clearer. It doesn't improve your skin overnight like some youtubers claim, but it does a really nice job in the long run.
Other than using it as a toner, I've been putting these pads on my cheeks whenever I feel some pimples are about to show their ugliness to the world to stop them from appearing or at least from being as awful ad they were about to be.

What's good?
- Very convenient to use
- Can be used both as a toner and as a spot treatment
- Improves the skin texture
- Reduces the severity of breakouts
- Not irritating

What's not good?
- If you are used to strong acids in your skincare routine, this one would probably be too gentle for your liking.

Will I repurchase it?
Yes! it's my 4th jar already actually.

  1. Do these really work saw them in a best of beauty youtube video but I thought they would be too gentle to be used as a daily acid peel product, no? I have really dry skin and I noticed if I don't at least use some sort of psychical exfoliator I look all dry and cracked up. If you were on a budget and had to choose something to help remove dead skin cell build up would it be this or something else? Was thinking about trying the Ordinary 30% AHA or the Pixi Glow Peel Pads(Which Average about 20%).

    1. These are really gentle, so if you are used to strong acids these probably wouldn't work for you.
Also, keep in mind that frequent exfoliation leads to dehydrated cracked skin, so this might be the actual reason why your skin is all dry. I would recommend to use whatever peel you want twice a week (not more) and invest in a good moisturiser to hydrate your skin and prevent it from becoming flaky and dead cells from building up. Also don't rub your skin harshly it would only lead to more flaking.
      Hope it helped ^^
